Howdee Blogaroonies -

Yesterday while Sandy and Ann were shopping, I had my truck painted:

I now have a BARN....................................

That blue truck that was spotted a church yesterday while I was cutting the grass must have belonged to someone else! It has been said, "Don't believe everything you read in a blog on the Internet."

Oh, by the way, the auction ended, I sold my Kurt Vonnegut collection to a man in Ohio and will ship it to him this morning.......... More auctions to come..............

God bless you all. And remember, take good care of yourself, I need you, john

Hi Blogsters -

Good day to you!!! I have some funny things to share with you that a friend of my at work shared with me:

Once again, The Washington Post has published the winning submissions to its yearly contest, in which readers are asked to supply alternate meanings for common words. Some of the winning definitions are:

Coffee(n.), the person upon whom one coughs.

Flabbergasted(adj.), appalled over how much weight you have gained

Abdicate(v.), to give up all hope of ever having a flat stomach.

Negligent(adj.), describes a condition in which you absent-mindedly answer the door in your nightgown.

Flatulence(n.) emergency vehicle that picks you up after you are run over by a steamroller.

Balderdash(n.), a rapidly receding hairline.

Testicle(n.), a humorous question on an exam.

Rectitude(n.), the formal, dignified bearing adopted by proctologists.

Frisbeetarianism*( n.), the belief that, when you die, your soul flies up onto the roof and gets stuck there. * Since I have been told I need religion, I have adopted this as my religious belief.

hee haw! hee haw!

Sandy's sister Ann came to town today - she lives in Florida and arrived just in time of a hail storm...............so, I am singing Hail to the Ann!!! to the tune of Hail to the Chief.....

If Dennis has a truck alternative named BART or BARF and I have a truck that is a Nissan, could I name it BARN......... No, first, it is not as big as BART or BARF and secondly, it is blue - so, I will think of an acronym for middle sized blue Nissan.........or not..........

I have a new cell phone with a company named Virgin Mobile........... that's why I got it, the name. No, actually I got it because I could pay as I go and pay by the minute....for me, that is great, I only use the cell phone 10 to 15 minutes a month....that means my monthly charge will be something less than $3.00 - currently, it is about $55.00............that is a nice savings, we might be able to afford one for Sandy too, she uses the cell phone less than I do..... imagine that!! That leaves me with about $50 of discretionary income - I used it today for some single malt..................

Well, I actually feel better today, that is two days of improvement in a row......... I am on the mend.......... thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Hey, next week I am cooking for WNL at church......... We are having pot roast, potatoes, peas, salad, and desert..................... yummy, I love gravy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, gotta go, but remember, take good care of yourself and tell someone you love them, I love you all, john

Hello Blogareenies.....
I am back sortof.......

It has been a week since blogged because I have had an awful cold and have been able to do only what I have had to do and that did not include blogging.....

A week ago, I started an auction for my Kurt Vonnegut books and I thought I would report how things are progressing - I do not have anything else interesting going on right now....
I currently have no bids, with
Four people watching, and three questions....
First, someone wanted to know if a particular couple of books were first editions - answer no.
Second, a person from Buenos Aries, Argentina wanted to know how much shipping would be - answer - UPS - $550 hummmm, USPS - $55 or $60 taking 6 to 8 weeks.
Third questions, would I ship parcel post to Alaska and would I sell the books right now for $100 (starting bid $99) - answer yes parcel post cost plus $15 my packing and handling, and NO, the fun of it for me is the auction......so, I will wait.

Okay, our girl dog, Jill just demanded to be petted by walking up to me and continuing on up almost completely into my lap......... we have Starbucks dogs - they are half labs with a dash of white, high voices, and curly tails.....hold the sugar, they are sweet enough. I was putting something in the car for Sandy Sunday and invited the dogs out with me....as I opened the back lid door and put the stuff in the back of her pathfinder, the dogs took off heading toward the creek........I whistled and they came back - I was reminded that it is important to watch your children at all times...........

Today I had class. Yesterday I had to read 60 applications for a teaching position we have open, I am the chairman of the search committee.... at this stage, we have to evaluate the applications to determine if they are qualified or not. I started at 8:30 am and finished a little after 2:00 pm. I then took them back to work so that my team members would be able to do the same thing. Then I came home and sat in my chair.............at about 4:30 my boss called and asked if I was okay...I said yes and he said he was worried because I was not at our meeting with our Strategic Experience teams.......I had missed our 4pm class...sorta a class, it is a scheduled weekly meeting........... I felt terrible for missing that class - in fact, in the 28 years I have been teaching that is only the second class I forgot to go to - and I have only missed a few because of illness........... the last class I forgot to go to was in 1981 at the University of Louisville (they used to have really great basketball teams - national champs in 1980 and 86 and really crappy football teams - now they have a good football team - ETSU does not have football - Even Emery & Henry and Duke have football teams)...... I am very upset with myself for doing that..........for missing class...........

I just got 50 yellow and red long stem tulip bulbs for fall planting - that is very exciting for me.

That's it - and remember, and I mean it, Take good care of yourself - peace, john

PS: How's Hank - and why are they observing him???
