Today I had an Epidural Steroid Injection at Lumbar 4 Vertebrae!!!

Here is a picture.......
That long skinny thing on the right is the needle...... Thank God for numbing medicines, I only felt a slight pressure...

I am home now, resting... at the moment I am pain free in my lower back and right leg... that is the result of some additional numbing medicine that is combined with the steroid... it will go away and then it will take somewhere in the vicinity of 4-5 days for the steroid to actually start working...

cross your fingers and pray. the purpose of all this is to postpone inevitable surgery because of the narrowing of the area around the spinal cord, called stinosis, caused by arthritis and aging..

A bad thing about me getting older is that this happens .... a good thing is that I am getting older and able to experience all of it!!!

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers, Peace, John

Ouch...don't like those needles! Have another friend that just did this procedure and it seems to have really helped her. We'll be praying for this to work for you and praying that surgery will not have to happen!

Hmm, so I just turned 50, and I've got some lower back and right leg issues. Does that mean such a needle is probably in my future?

Hi Guys - I am experiencing some relief... unfortunately, the longer I am on my feet, the more my back hurts.... Michael, I sure hope not... although the procedure was not so bad, getting to the point that I needed was and continues to be painful... Cheers, john
